Reflection
Attitude

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company…a church…a home. The remarkable thing is we have choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past…we cannot change the fact that other people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude…I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you…we are in charge of our own attitudes.”

Reflection:
 | The month of December allows us to practice surrounding our choices on right attitude. It is the month that holds our holiday seasons, and winter solstice, which are powerful times for reassessing and shifting our attitudes. Thoughts and feelings are inseparable Siamese twins. Thoughts generate feelings; and feelings stimulate thoughts. Attitude emerges from our thoughts and feelings and always has an impact on our choices surrounding our actions and behaviors. Positive attitudes include openness, flexibility, enthusiasm, objectivity, joy, clarity, curiosity, and trust.
• Track for the month of December on a daily basis, the thoughts and feelings that generate either positive or negative attitudes, and in what ways they specifically impact our actions and behaviors.

| Practice being in charge of your own attitude on a daily basis. What does it take for you to sustain an attitude that creates new possibilities greater than any obstacles or circumstances? What are the attitudes that you can identify that will open a new experience for you in the New Year? |
